The Animal Rescue Site is hosting a special challenge for eligible Petfinder.com member shelter and rescue groups. The grand prize is a $20,000 grant, and they will be awarding many other grants to rescue groups with the most votes — a total of $100,000 in grants for animal welfare organizations.
Think how many dogs, cats, puppies and kittens we could help with $20,000!
Help us win! All you have to do is click to help rescued animals, and then vote in The Animal Rescue Site $100,000 Shelter+ Challenge. Both of these actions are absolutely free! You can vote once a day, every day, from April 13 through July 26,2009. Every time you vote, or tell a friend to vote, you are making a huge difference for Save A Pet! Just click on the logo to vote.

- SPAY AND NEUTER HELP FOR YOUR PETS! -
At Save-A-Pet, we understand with the current economy as bad as it is, getting your dog or cat spayed or neutered, may be unaffordable right now. However, our very good friends at Lend A Paw may be able to help cover the costs of getting your pet spayed or neutered. Call Lend A Paw at (760) 202-3826, and give them your information. If approved, Lend A Paw will fax you a $60.00 voucher towards the cost of a spay or neuter for your pet at Save A Pet.
Remember, when you get your dog spayed or neutered, the license fee in your city is usually reduced significantly! Please check with Lend A Paw and see if they can help you!
- VETERINARIANS WE LIKE! (A LOT!) -
In the past, Save-A-Pet has used the services of two wonderful, compassionate, and very talented veterinarians for our animal care. Dr. Kip Madsen, DVM. in Desert Hot Springs, and Dr. Gurdeep S. Deol, DVM. in Palm Desert.
We have had excellent results with both of these veterinarians, and highly recommend both for your pet medical care. To visit Dr. Kip Madsen's website, Click here. To visit Dr. Deol's website, Click here.
- NEED DOG WALKERS OR PET SITTERS? -

Every Sunday, for all dogs and cats 5 years of age or older, the adoption fee is cut in half! (Normally $95.00 for dogs, $90.00 for cats) Only at the Save-A-Pet location.
Older dogs generally have had some training, both in obedience and house manners. (Some dogs, due to the confusion and upset of being uprooted and finding themselves in a chaotic shelter environment, may temporarily forget their housetraining. Inevitably, once established in their new home, they remember.)
Older dogs have learned what "no" means and how to leave the furniture, carpets, shoes, and other "chewables" alone. (If they hadn't learned that, they wouldn't have gotten to be "older" dogs!)
Older cats are usually fully trained. They know how to use the litter box, and recognize the sound of a can opener at 100 yards! You pretty much know the temperament of an adult cat from the start. Want a nice sedate cat to cuddle with in front of a fire? Do you prefer active, playful animals?.Older cats (meaning not a kitten anymore) are often very affectionate animals. Just because a cat isn't a baby anymore doesn't mean that they won't want to BE babied!
- SAVE-A-PET STAMPS NOW AVAILABLE!. -
Now you can buy Save-A-Pet stamps! (Yes, they're real stamps!) Thanks to Ann Woods!

ABOUT SAVE-A-PET
Save-A- Pet adoption center is located at: 67-600 18th. Ave, Desert Hot Springs. 92241.
We are one of two "No Kill" shelters here in the Coachella Valley. Tax deductible donations may be made out to: Save-A-Pet
P.O. Box 602, Desert Hot Springs, CA. 92240
We help about 600 dogs and 600 cats a year find loving homes. All animals are spayed or neutered, vaccinated and microchipped. They also come with a 7-day health guarantee.
Save-A-Pet is a non profit "No Kill" animal shelter. We take in adoptable (young and healthy) dogs and cats when we have room. The required intake fees help offset the spay or neuter, vaccinations, micro-chipping and care and feeding of our animals until they are adopted, but by no means covers the costs.
As a private non profit organization, we reserve the right to refuse an animal intake as we may not have room, the animal is animal or people agressive, or the health is unknown or questionable.
New day and night time surveillance systems are now in place. Abandoning an animal at Save-A-Pet is against the law! Your information will be turned over to the Riverside County Sheriff's Department for prosecution. Sadly, we have enabled these measures as some people refuse to take responsibility for their pets.
All animals stay at Save-A-Pet until they find loving homes.

We get a lot of people who find a stray or injured animal and bring them to Save-A-Pet. Unfortunately, we do not have a vet on the premises or, may not have room at the time you find an animal. To be prepared in the event you find a stray or injured animal, please read the article from the Humane Society of the United States and what you should know when trying to help an animal.
