- WE ARE NOT ACCEPTING ANIMALS AT THIS TIME -
Due to the economic situation and a dramatic drop in adoptions, we are NOT accepting any pets at this time. 98 percent of our phone calls come from people who want to surrender their pets, as many people are still losing their homes. We are receiving calls from out of state with pet owners looking for "No-Kill" shelters as their states shelters are full.

If you are in a similar situation, we suggest finding a home for your pet yourself. Friends and relatives are a good place to start. County and city pounds are overwhelmed with animals, and as many are kill shelters, a large number of dogs and cats are euthanized every day.

Save-A-Pet is a private, non-profit organization. We cannot come out to pick up animals. Save-A-Pet is no longer accepting Pitbulls or Pit mixes as they are very difficult to adopt out. Many home owners insurance will not cover any pet that is Pitbull or Pit mix.

We do take in adoptable animals when space is available. Our intake fee is $150.00 per animal, fixed or not. $150.00 per litter of puppies or kittens. There is no limit of animals per litter, but they must be from the same litter. Every dog or cat accepted by Save A Pet stays with us until they find a loving home. There are no time limits.

All dogs and cats being considered for intake at Save-A-Pet must be people and species friendly, with no history of biting a human or other animal. Also, all animals must be in good health! Save-A-Pet must be able to adopt out any dog or cat that comes to our facility. If your dog or cat has a "behavioral" problem, we can not accept them.

Our intake fees help cover the cost of spay and neutering of animals, vaccinations, and care of the pets until they are adopted, but by no means covers our costs. Our goal is to adopt animals to loving homes...period! Please call ahead of time to make sure we have available space. For dogs: (760) 329-8510. For cats: (760) 288-2287.

If you know of a stray animal thats needs to be picked up, call the Coachella Valley Animal Campus (Animal Control) at (760) 343-3644. They are located at 72-050 Pet Land Place in Thousand Palms, CA 92276 . For your convenience, you can visit their website by: >>Clicking here<<.
