- WE ARE NOT ACCEPTING ANIMALS AT THIS TIME -
Due to the economic situation and a dramatic drop in adoptions, we are NOT accepting any pets at this time. 98 percent of our phone calls come from people who want to surrender their pets as many people are still losing their homes. We are receiving calls from out of state with pet owners looking for "No-Kill" shelters as their states shelters are full.

If you are in a similar situation, we suggest finding a home for your pet yourself. County and city pounds are overwhelmed with animals, and as many are kill shelters, a large number of dogs and cats are euthanized every day.

- YOU CAN HELP THE DUROVILLE DOGS! -
DurovilleSave A Pet along with other organizations, are helping with the dog overpopulation at Duroville. If you would like to help donate food for these abandoned dogs, you can purchase any amount of food, and leave them at any Petsmart located in La Quinta, Palm Desert or Palm Springs. Save A Pet will collect the food donated at all Petsmarts in the Coachella Valley.

The economic downturn started a year ago last March with people having to turn in their large breed dogs, as they could no longer afford to feed them anymore. Then, realtors and the sheriff's dept started to call us about people abandoning their homes and their animals usually with no food or water.

The last few weeks 90% of our phone calls are from people who are still losing their homes, and have nowhere to take their pets. Most private shelters are beyond jammed. This is very heartbreaking for all of us at Save A Pet and other pet rescue shelters, as we have nowhere to send people. County and city shelters (usually kill shelters) are full and the situation is getting worse by the day.

If you would like to help, call (760) 641-5516.
